Tshisa Box
The Tshisa Box is a low-cost alternative to conventional solar water heaters. It requires no domestic running water system and can be used if you live in the suburbs, in an RDP house or a rural traditional house.
Built to be out in the sun, and made to be affordable to everyone, the materials take a beating and if used every day, it will last about a year before some of the parts will deteriorate and require replacement.
The product is distributed in a flat-pack form, which reduces transport costs and offers the opportunity to create assembly work (and value-add) in assembly in communities where it is sold.

The Tshisa Box comes in a sturdy plastic casing with carry handle to make it convenient to move when filled with water (10 kg is quite a hefty load). It is compact at just over 300 x 400 x 100 mm.
The Box will heat 10 litres of water once a day – reaching its highest temperatures at about 4 pm (sunshine days only). On a good day it takes 4 - 5 hours to get warm.
